About the Workshop
This workshop is designed for those who have found it difficult to get or
stay organized and for the educators, counselors, coaches and family
members who want to help them. While developed to support those with AD/HD,
these practical strategies can be used by anyone who is organizationally
challenged. The patterns of AD/HD difficulties such as organization, time
management, and learning abilities will be defined and "AD/HD friendly"
management strategies will be discussed. These strategies include systems
based on visual, spatial organization, a sequence for establishing and
achieving goals, and techniques for improving attention span, memory,
communication, and note taking. These tactics, whether applied in the
classroom, workplace or at home, will help people perform at a level commensurate to
their abilities & talents and function more efficiently and effectively.
Fundamental thinking skills will be addressed to show how to implement and
maintain management strategies over the course of a lifetime. Sample
exercises will be offered to improve thinking skills, sequencing, critical
thinking, and deductive reasoning.

1993, as a consultant helping teens and adults achieve their academic,
professional, and personal goals. Diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder at
age 38, Debra spent 9 years working with clients at the Brainworks Education
Center. She has written a number of articles dealing with AD/HD, co-authored
books on management strategies (ADD Quick Tips ) & spelling & writing skills
(The Most Wanted Words). She served as editor for a revised workbook designed to
help teens improve communication skills and problem-solving abilities (Teenage
Connection). In 2002, Debra began her own consulting / coaching business, and
spends a significant portion of time in one-to-one work sessions with teens and
adults with AD/HD. Debra does presentations for teacher in-service training,
PTA groups, and state & regional conferences. Her lively workshops combine humor
with solid information and practical strategies for successfully addressing
real-life problems.
